What to Expect
What to Expect for Upcoming In Lab Sleep Study
The sleep study itself is a painless diagnostic procedure and our dedicated friendly staff make sure that you are comfortable. You will have your own private and comfortable room. Electrodes are gently pasted to your scalp, face, and legs, along with other sensors attached to your body. These sensors are used to detect many different things and offer us great value when determining what is causing your sleep disturbances. During your sleep study we are monitoring brainwave patterns, muscle tone, heart rate, breathing, oxygen levels, and leg movements. If you need your sleep technologist, all you have to do is talk and he/she will hear you via our intercom system. You are free to watch t.v. or read until your sleep professional says “good night" and testing will begin.
Even though you will have sensors monitoring certain things, you are free to move around in bed to get comfortable. We want this to be a good experience for you so please let the sleep professionals know if you are needing anything! In the morning when your sleep study is complete, the sleep technologist will unhook all sensors and you will be free to leave.
After the sleep study is reviewed by a registered sleep technologist, those results are then sent to a board certified sleep physician for further interpretation of your sleep test. Once we receive an official interpretation, those results are sent to your ordering physician to explain testing results.
